Awoke very early-dawn in fact! Not much chance of hiding from the sun in our treehouse! Also cockerels were crowing and frogs riberting!
Hired a scooter. Decided to go to a beach quite far away- Candi Dasa-unfortunately went the wrong way to begin with but ended up in Tegalalang-completely the wrong way but saw the most amazing rice fields up a hill there!
Then came the long journey on the scooter to get to Candi Dasa- even longer as couldn't find the white sand beach recommended for ages.
Numb bums by the end if it! Starving when we got there so had some Balinese food first- curry for Ben and rice dish for me.
Was worth it though, lovely white sand beach, crystal clear sea- but it was freezing! Was a bit of a wave in the sea too.
Typical Balinese playing on a glockenspiel, very nice to begin with but then became a little repetitive! Then the man playing came and brought it next to me and played the same song, funnily enough that is when Ben went 'for a walk'! So I sat and listened, gave him some money in the hope that he would move on, however this seemed to portray that I must have been really enjoying it, so he played with even more vigour!
After a few hours sunbathing and swimming we came back to our treehouse- trying to get back before it got dark as quite a few crazy drivers about with plenty of overtaking! Found out people beep you when they are overtaking, not if your doing something wrong- we had a few beeps!
After a quick shower and change, we went into ubud for the evening.
Had a lovely dinner- crispy lobster wantons to start, then I had steamed red snapper and Ben had tuna steak at restaurant called Arys Warung, it was lovely.
Crossed the road to lotus cafe after that and shared dessert. It has an amazing lotus garden there.
Walked back to treehouse, to walk back you walk down a road with cement paving stones with messages writing in them by people who have visited ubud since the 80s up till now. Then through the rice fields-the torch is definitely handy! Again we saw loads of fireflies shinning over the fields!
Bye for now!Read more
