30/7 Amazon day 1

After minimal sleep on the bus we arrived at Lago Agrio at around 8am, were served some breakfast as part of our tour, then continued on to Cuyabeno. We arrived at the entry point to Cuyabeno at around 11am after a 12 hour bus trip, where we transferred our belongings onto the boat and set off along the Amazon River. About 30 minutes into our boat ride the rainforest made good on its name and poured down on us. Sadly the boat was one poncho short so Sal and I had to share one between the two of us, safe to say we were saturated by the end of the journey 😅 Once we reached our lodge we dropped our bags into our room, dried off, and went to the communal area for lunch. All of the meals during our stay were delicious, and the vegetarians were well catered for. We had a bit of a rest then went on a boat trip out to Lagunda Grande for a sunset swim (of course it was much too cloudy to see the sunset though). On our way to the Laguna we spotted a medium-sized caiman hiding amongst the vegetation, and on our way back we spotted another one resting underneath the jetty of a nearby lodge, as well as a small boa.Read more
