Shinjuku, Tokyo

I arrived at Imano hostel at 11:30pm in a pre-booked car from Narita Airport. I had a hostel breakfast with a Malaysian family, mum and two teenage girls. 

Top priority today was buying a ticket for Wednesday's bullet train at Shinjuku main station. Then I spent the afternoon in busy Shinjuku before catching a train to Toyoso and Team Labs Planets. This is an interactive art installation based on light and mirrors and it's great fun.

The lady in the Shinjuku tourist office  drew a route on my map with all the best places to go. So, I saw the Shinjuku cat, Godzilla, the shrine, and the gardens.

It's raining, but everyone has an umbrella and the hostel has some for loan. Everyone is very well groomed and mostly dressed in black, white and grey, or jeans.Read more
