    Kyoto and the bullet train

    October 3, 2025 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

I was excited about the Shinkansen (bullet train) to Kyoto. It's ok to eat on the train if it's the Shinkansen, so I bought an Ekibento (train bento box). We moved fast, but I had no sensation of 285 kph. Yet we covered 515 km in 2 hours 15 mins. Kind passengers moved to let me sit by the window to see Mount Fuji.

I found Ryokan, a very comfortable Kyoto hostel, and went out to eat in the old Gion district with German Layla and Danish Lucas.
