• Tokushima - travel day

    I was impatient to leave big cities, go to Shikoku Island and start the walk. I took a bus to Kyoto station, waited a stressful 30 minutes to buy a ticket for the train to Osaka and took the train, then in Osaka found the bus stop for Tokushima. An iced coffee and roasted green tea cheesecake calmed my nerves after all that ticket-buying and platform-finding. The very comfortable bus arrived in Tokushima at 12:30. 

    On the Tokushima bus we crossed Akashi Kaikyo Bridge - the world's longest suspension bridge, 3911m - to reach Awaji island, and then Onaruto bridge to Shikoku island, over famous whirlpools! A Chinese family I met at the bus stop were going on a boat trip to see them.

    This afternoon I joined a Henro (pilgrimage) orientation meeting, then found my hostel.
