Westbound again along the Gibb River Road and into the King Leopold Range. On the east side we visit Bells Gorge unique among those that we visit in that we actually walked down to access the river and falls. The road climbs, dips and turns as passes the King Leopold Range with Mount Bell being one of its prominent peaks at 748m. The whole lot is bound up in the King Leopold Conservation Park. There are a few other smaller Conservation Parks, as well as a number of Private Nature Reserves. I am not sure how they align with National Parks, but it is good to see a number of green shaded areas on the map of the Kimberley, which means that cattle farming is on the decline with natural bushland having an opportunity to return. The Military and Aboriginal Land Title also lay claim to very large swathes of this coast.Læs mere
