Party night & visiting the turtle camp

    May 20, 2021 in Mexico ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

So, yeah... I lost my money at the club, I didn‘t know the name of the street where I live and I forgot where we put the key once I got there - so it was really, really, really good that Sebastian took care of me... I probably should think more before I go out... we went to the beach to see the sunrise and saw surfers having so much fun.
The Apartment I’m staying in is exactly half a meter walking distance to the beach... it’s dirty, doesn’t have running water and no AC but it’s still just great!! Uli and Palesa live upstairs and rn I share a room with Roque :) I love meeting new people :) at 11:30 I finally got an hour of sleep after teaching English through Whatsappcall and breakfast at 2pm (consisting of bread, avocado, tomato and my new favorite: Tajin. That’s salt, chili and lime and it’s just awesome!!
Took a stroll in the afternoon, the sand is so hot it burnt my soles and the current is pretty strong.
Roque and I went to the turtle camp (I misread the way and our path became 4km longer than it was supposed to be), long, stony road but beautiful. Sunset, bricks, ocean, turtles... Leo is very nice, we may spend Sunday night at the beach to help him collect eggs at the beach, will keep you updated!!
It was open mic night and I was so looking forward to it but after 30 min in I got home to sleep because I finally became tired after an 38hour day with only one hour of sleep in the daytime.

Astonishing viewUnfortunately not really spicy and tasty :(Nice evening with only Spanish speaking people

    Surfing, food & Salsa

    May 21, 2021 in Mexico ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

I set an alarm clock for 12pm and still it was too less time... little bit of English through Whatsappcall and then Sebastian, Gonzalo, Roque and I went out for lunch at a nice Tacoplace somewhere around. Fresh watermelon juice, yummy.
With no shoes or long pants on I sat on the motorbike, living the life ;) we went to Bonitas to drink some beer and sit in the pool, then we took a Colectivo to Playa Carizalillo, the view is astonishing... I had to stop on the stairs because it was so breathtakingly beautiful. We booked a surfboard, I almost drowned but even only laying on top of the wave was amazing, I need to book a teacher soon... Indian, unfortunately not so good, dinner at El Arból and then nice live music and Salsa and Cumbia.

    Beachday & sunset

    May 22, 2021 in Mexico ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

I couldn’t sleep well so I got out of bed before sunrise and practiced some Yoga. Chilling vibes in a hammock and then beach and swimming day at Carizalillo. Josh, Palesa and I went to Playa Bacocho to see the sunset and it was really, really pretty. Beautiful water and the sound of ocean waves, nice sand and on the right hand side everything green and full of trees.Read more

    Beach and Clubbing

    May 23, 2021 in Mexico ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

Daystroll at the beach, little bit of swimming but the waves are way too big for that... party at a beach club - it was really nice there, I liked the vibe and music - then we took off to Cactus, I didn’t really like it there, many weird people - I really don’t feel comfortable going around seeing people sell, buy and take drugs... the night was kinda done anyways so I took a taxi and went to sleep at 5am.Read more

So what do we eat today? Panties...Sleeping at the beach

Work, exercise & campo de tortuguitas

    May 24, 2021 in Mexico ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

Nice morning laying at the beach with Uli, enjoying the cold water and hot sun. We wrote her essay for university for like 4-5 hours... then cooking - food and underwear... what everybody usually does...
I played volleyball and Frisbee with Gonzalo and Vale and had to run to be in time for the night at the turtle camp. We walked up and down the beach the whole night but I still slept about 4 hours - outside, under the stars, it was so nice! Unfortunately there were ne Tortugas or eggs anywhere to be found but still, I had a great night! Learned some Spanish as well :)

    Gameday & Clubbing

    May 25, 2021 in Mexico ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

We finally played my dice game. Then we went out to this darn tasty Taco Bar Fish Shack!! The boys went surfing and I enjoyed my stay at the beach with some Finnish girls. Uli, Palesa, Alex and myself went out for dinner, afterwards to Bonitas, then to Selinas for Salsa and then some other club. Mezcal, Tequila and coconut liquor... not good... Some people started a fight and I took off immediately - I don’t need to happen to me what Uli told me about Tulum, where a guy in the club was shot right in front of her and they all had to lay on the ground wishing for their lives.Read more

    Surfing

    May 26, 2021 in Mexico ⋅ ⛅ 31 °C

This was suchhhh a good day!! I got up and did what I wanted to do for so long, I went to the beach to go take a surfing lesson! 700Pesos, quite expensive and with a hangover - I realized later - probably not the best idea but still pretty fun! I caught some waves (holas in español) and felt pretty great standing on a surfboard. I wanted to go home but then I met Tana on the stairs and she invited me to spend some time with her and Dan and Flo, so I did and it became an even better day :) I ate fresh Oysters for 150Pesos. We watched how the guy got them and some octopuses out of the water, only using his hands, holy moly... I played Volleyball and went to release 193 turtles with Leo and Carlos. Then Alex cooked some Shrimp Risotto and after that I met Gonzalo, Sebastian, Vale and some other people at El Arból for some time.Read more

  • “Stuck” in Puerto Escondido

    June 2, 2021 in Mexico ⋅ ⛅ 31 °C

Okay, so I wanted to stay for a week and in the meantime learn a lot of things... now it has been more than two weeks of partying, more partying, playing volleyball, chilling, even more partying, meeting people, saying goodbye to people and much more partying. A few pictures of my time in Puerto Escondido and small stories to share. This was an unexpected, beautiful and nice but also breaking point in my travels. I don’t feel like it belongs on this page. So Puerto Escondido only gets one entry for the unexpected amount of time I have been there. I loved it and I felt trapped as well. There’s places in this world, I realized, where you shouldn’t stay even though it would be so easy to do so.Read more

  • Puerto Escondido -> Mazunte

    June 5, 2021 in Mexico ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

I really had to get out of Puerto Escondido for a few days, spend some time on my own and get out of the Habitus of drinking and partying and eating and drinking and partying and reverse vise... stayed in a hostel at the beginning of town, had a weird neighbor in the dorm, no ven, so I only slept for 2 hours and took a dip in the pool in the middle of the night to cool down.
I tried to get to Mazunte as early as possible but the Colectivo broke so we had to take a taxi after another bus wouldn’t take us and hitchhiking didn’t seem like a safe option (bad vibes...) I tried to see the sunset from beautiful Punta Cometa point but I couldn’t get there in time. Afterwards I went out for a crazy expensive dinner with Gonzalo and his friends. I ordered a salad, it was really tasty but the only thing missing from it was the actual lettuce for it being called a salad in my opinion...
Also, I don’t know why I look like a fatty in that picture...
I was so tired, they went out for dancing but I went to sleep at midnight rightaway.

  • Mazunte & Temazcal

    June 6, 2021 in Mexico ⋅ ☁️ 30 °C

Bad night, beautiful beach, search for a new hostel, pretty sunset, boring small city life. Homemade tacos at the market place in the morning and Ceviche at the sunset point in the evening!! I did a Temazcal in the evening, that is like a sauna but for cleaning your four spiritual bodies. You first ask all the gods, poles and apirits to accept you and then you sit in the Temazcal (a stony round hut) and you chant, cry, scream, do whatever you want while hot stones get carried in. It’s about opening doors so that you can free yourself. You get in there with an intention. They tell you the heat is only in your mind and probably it’s true but still I wanted to stop after the third round but then I just laid down on the floor where the heat wasn’t too strong. Afterwards you get out and take a dip in the pool at the same time. Especially in Mazunte (people have told me) it can seem like a sect, which I felt like being a part of a bit too but still, it was an interesting experience and I think I’d like to try it again being a bit more open-minded.Read more
