Ancona ferry port. Italy

We have just boarded the good ship Moby Zazá to Spilt and as usual in Italy the apparent disorganisation leaves you feeling they have never done this before. The booking tells you to go to the port. When you get there you are told to go 2 kilometres to the check in office where you wait one and a half hours before heading the two kilometres back and wait another hour and three quarters before board begins. Boarding with the car is like playing Tetris as the cars are fitted into eachother like pieces on a board at all angles with about 100 motorcycles all jammed in by the cars. Mandy videoed me going up the ramp which is much steeper than it looks. We are setting sail 45 minutes late.
All of that was after a pleasant relaxing 100 mile drive in a little pocket of sunshine on an otherwise rather cloudy day. We stopped for coffee to pass time on the way at what turned out to be a really nice café and had a good laugh with the staff.Read more
