Igeslias in La Libertad
7 luglio 2024, Perù ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C
Set scene: Jungle Cruise @ Disneyland. Picture that … that’s what it felt like as we ventured along the Rio Nanay.
Day went a little like this…
Breakfast at 7am sharp… then 8:15am was time to head from Nina Rumi (campus) to La Libertad for church. La Libertad is the village our team will be visiting for the remainder of our trip.
Facts of La Libertad: 200 villagers + 101 years old + 3 churches and just now receiving fresh water. 💧 #waterislife
Church was amazing! Axel (one of our team members) delivered God’s word today. All about the Golden Rule. Anyone need a refresher? “Do unto others, as you would like done unto you” 👌🏼 God is love and God commands us to love our neighbors (including the ones that may or may not conduct a burn pile their front lawn). Woo eee! Convicted!
I brought my Bible with me this trip. It’s been a desire placed on my heart to pick this book up and read it. I do my daily devotionals and I pray in the day but do I consistently read God’s word? Negative. So this trip I felt compelled to bring it with me, and with little to no service, what a perfecto time to pick it up!
Bible Background: Zander purchased this Bible for me when he was in 1st or 2nd grade at a book fair at school. It’s been a treasured gift for all of these years but I’m embarrassed to admit I just now realize what a true treasure he gifted me.
Also made me wonder if he thought… “My mom needs Jesus!” 🤣 He was right! So young and so wise!
Ok back to the point… as service began to conclude it came to me to have this treasure blessed by the pastors; Pastor Nestor of La Libertad and Pastor David of Catch a Vision. Uncomfortable as it was to ask… I asked Piero (our interpreter) to ask if they would do that. He asked and the blessings rained down… Ask and you shall receive, right?
Tears entered stage right and this probably was the only time I wished to have my contacts back to have a chance to fight them back. Pastor David continued the prayers and told me (here is cliff notes) that the map to life is in this book. All the answers I’ll ever need were right there. And that’s when this team found out I’m an ugly crier.
Theee End.
Jk… but kind of. After that we did a quick gathering in their community center and then a quick walk to the water well before jumping on boat back to Nina Rumi. Here at campus we packed 87 food bags to distribute to the families in La Libertad.
Bags included;: Oil, oats, rice, beans, canned meat, matches, salt, cookies and tea. And we are told will feed them for 2-3 weeks based on the family size. Such a blessing from above through all that who have donated to make this a thing!!! Thanks to you all!
But wait… there’s more. At dinner we shared our one thing of the day, and I of course shared my Bible blessing experience and thanked Pastor David for the perfect words I needed to hear earlier that day.
Grabbing a water and people disbursing back to their cabins…. Pastor David re-enters the dining room to share with me his Bible that someone gave him in 2003. From there he spent another hour with us preaching and pouring into our perfectly imperfect selves. What a Godsend he is and I’m truly appreciative for Gods words through this man.
Tomorrow is first full day in La Libertad. Ready??? Me too!
God is good! Amen! ✌🏼🤍🙏🏼Leggi altro
