Day 11 - Quepos —> Tamarindo
13. januar, Costa Rica ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C
Travel day alert! Last big move of our Costa Rica adventure. Today’s route started in Quepos, and ended in Tamarindo.
Estimated travel time (ETT) = 6.5 hours
Actual travel time (ATT) = 7.5 hours
The above ETT includes potty/coffee breaks and lunch. What our map/ETT didn’t account for was stalled vehicles, accidents and Costa Ricans out for a casual Tuesday drive (with no apparent place to be).
Based on 7.5 hours of research, it is our conclusion that people here just leave cars wherever. For example … accidents … Mike informed me best thing to do, if possible, is to move vehicles out of the way. Here, they just leave them. Seriously … we passed two accidents where the cars were just left either in the middle of the road with cones around it, or on the side of the street. Like “I’ll be back for this later, k?” NBD.
(Another business idea … LCP Towing. Seems there is untapped potential in the local tow truck industry. 🤔 I just may be an entrepreneur yet!)
The landscape during travels changed drastically. Less lush and more rolling hills, big shade trees and some flowers/pastures. Think Ferdinand the Bull landscape - I know that book was based on Spain, but still.
Need a refresher on Ferdinand? Watch this short-film:

Needless to say, when we arrived in Tamarindo, we were more than ready to un-fasten our seatbelts and soak in what this beach town along the pacific coast had to offer.
But … our Airbnb had different plans to keep the suspense going. Our code to the door … a no-go. And our contact sent Mike a message just before our arrival and said she would be gone for about 2 hours. He was PUMPED! Like a Swifty with front row seats at her Era Tour pumped! His face totally welcomed another delay or question. Hahaha!
Jk … more like exact opposite of that … Not a happy camper and ready for battle.
Tummies were rumbling, backs were stiff and our award-winning frozen fish we picked up in coolers (yep … that happened this morning) needed to be back in an ice box sooner than later.
Thankfully Matthew cracked the code to the front door and we were able to enter our next “home” for our last days here in Costa Rica before Mick kicked the resident cat. 🐱
And … with that, the night ended peacefully.
The Fantastic 5 dined at Patagonia (restaurant down the street from our condo/penthouse) with steak and pasta as our mains, and cheesecake and chocolate lava cake as our finale. It’s like I hand-picked my last meal! So good!
Tomorrow’s plans??? Nada. A whole lot of R&R. Maybe … shopping … pool time …. Beach … lunch (not brunch) … and I spy’d a legit ice cream place on the way in so you know I’ll be dropping in for a few scoops!
Mike is now fast asleep as I finish tonight’s post and ya know … he and Pepe earned it!!! ♥️
Much love,
