John Day Fossil Bed NM - Sheep Rock Unit

FR : Le John Day National Monument n'est pas très connu, et pour cause, il est loin de tout et les points d'intérêt sont distants les uns des autres. Du coup, on croise ici des personnes qui comme nous sont sur la route pour "un peu plus" que des vacances... La Sheep Rock Unit est notre premier stop. Des paléontologues travaillent ici à l'extraction de fossiles et à la reconstitution de l'histoire évolutive des mammifères. Ils partagent leurs trouvailles avec le public à travers une chouette exhibition. C'est aussi un site d'intérêt géologique, le volcanisme ayant sculpté le terrain avec goût pendant plusieurs millions d'années.

EN: The John Day National Monument is not very famous, probably because it's located in the middle of nowhere and point of interest are far from each others. Therefore, we meet there people being like us, on the road for "slightly more" than just holidays. The Sheep Rock unit is our first stop. Paleontologists work here, extracting fossiles and deciphering the evolutive history of mammals. They share their findings with the public thanks to a very nice exhibition.
