Pitched up for first few days

Departed ferry at 8.30am (French time) and had a 250 mile drive to our first site between Blois and Tours. Arrived at 2.00pm, very tired as didn't sleep well on ferry. Nice site, very flat around withBaca lagi

Spent the day in Tours today. Beautiful city on the banks of the Loire. First stop cafe for morning coffee. Couldn't resist the chocolate éclair, then at 1.30pm desperately looking for loo!!.
Cycle to Blois

As we cycled along the banks of the Loire, Lynn said it looked familiar. I said no, we haven't been here before, and then when we approached Blois, it dawned on me that we had!! A few years earlier.Baca lagi
Chateau Chenonceau (raining)

Chateau Chaumont sur Loire

Following on from yesterday's chateau, we visited chaumont today. There was an international garden festival on which had 50 different displays by different artists from all over the world.

Amboise

Cycled to Amboise today. Beautiful day, beautiful ride and a lovely town on the banks of the Loire.
CHAMBORD

Chambord is the jewellery in the crown of the Loire. Magnificent building and gardens.
Santenay

Travelled around 250 miles today to get further east and south towards Switzerland. First campsite didn't take twin axle caravans so had to drive to one they recommended and we weren't disappointed.Baca lagi
Beaune

Cycled to Beaune through vineyards on incredibly quiet roads. Also cycled through some lovely villages.
Dijon

We visited Dijon today. Amazing architecture. It was market day, and they say the best in france. Also, some of the roofs had the traditional colour tiling, which is only in this region and stunning.

Cycled from site in Santenay along the voie vert, which is an old railway to Nolay about 7km it was only a short distance, i found another route that took us high into the hills with some goodBaca lagi
Lake Annecy

A day in Annecy town

Well, it p****d it down most of last night and up to 1.00pm today. Then we had a bit of sunshine. The town was really nice and is known as the French Venice.

After a cloudy uncertain start to my birthday and realising I am now 66, we decided to risk the 27-mile round the lake cycle ride. About 80% of the ride is off-road on special cycle tracks.
Cascade de A'ngnon

Another crap day weather wise, so had morning coffee in the van. Drove to Tallories, other side of the lake. It was still raining, so we walked up to the 35m metre waterfalls of the cascade deBaca lagi
Gorges du fier

Gorges du Fier is one-off the finest examples of erosion by running water. During heavy rain, the water can rise up to 26m per hour. Some of the pictures show the repairs after flooding in 2019. ThenBaca lagi

Route des Cretes

Morning cycling around the route des crates. Amazing views from the top of the climb and watching a griffon vulture soaring along the cliff face. A long descent back to the village.
Chateauneuf les Moustiers

Afternoon cycle from the village up to this ruined Chateau. Great views from the top and around the site of the chateau.
