Gezgin I had forgotten Isabel and Fernando were buried in Granada. I thought the entire Spanish royal family was at El Escorial... Time to brush up on the history of Spain!
Gezgin The custom of sculpting the likenesses of notables (esp. royalty) on top of their sarcophagi must have been widespread in Europe. I saw a similar resting place for a medieval king and queen in the Bamberg Cathedral (in Franconia, a Catholic region of Germany).
