5-Tage Tour Orkney Isles - Tag 2

Am zweiten Tag ging es am frühen Morgen zum Castle Robin und sind dann zu einem Denkmal gefahren, dass für all die abertausenden Schotten steht, die ihr geliebtes Schottland verlassen mussten.

Später sind wir zur Steilküste gefahren. Es war sehr windig und kalt, daher war es unmöglich nah an die Kante heranzutreten.

Danach ging es auf die Fähre. Es war wieder atemberaubend auf dem Sonnendeck zu stehen und aufs Meer zu schauen. Die Fahrt hat ca. Eineinhalb Stunden gedauert. Leider konnte ich nicht die gesamte Zeit auf Deck bleiben, da es sehr, sehr kalt war. Auf der Hauptinsel findet man noch heute Wracks aus dem zweiten Weltkrieg.

Nachdem wir ein wenig die Gegend angeschaut haben, sind wir zur Italian Chapel gefahren. Dort war ich das letzte Mal vor fünf Jahren. Es hatte sich kaum etwas verändert.

Am Nachmittag ging es wieder zu den Cliffs. Das war eine sehr beeindruckende und atemberaubende Szenerie - aber auch gefährlich aufgrund des starken Windes.

Übernachte habe ich wieder in der gleiche Unterkunft in Kirkwall wir vor fünf Jahren. Ich hatte sogar das selbe Zimmer. ☺️

On the second day we went to Castle Robin in the early morning and then drove to a memorial that stands for all the thousands of Scots who had to leave their beloved Scotland.

Later we drove to the cliffs. It was very windy and cold, so it was impossible to get close to the edge.

After that we went on the ferry. It was again breathtaking to stand on the sun deck and look out to sea. The trip took about an hour and a half. Unfortunately I couldn't stay on deck the whole time because it was very, very cold. On the main island you can still find wrecks from WWII.

After looking around a bit, we went to The Italian Chapel. The last time I was there was five years ago. Hardly anything had changed.

In the afternoon we went to the Cliffs again. It was a very impressive and breathtaking scenery - but also dangerous because of the strong wind.

I spent the night again in the same accommodation in Kirkwall as five years ago. I even had the same room. ☺️Lue lisää
