Day 2 - Port Campbell to Apollo Bay

    December 28, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Started off the day with a quick breakfast (toast and cappucino) in Port Campbell. After that we drove straight to the "twelve apostles" as it can get very crowded later in the day but it was quite quiet when we arrived. Parked up and walked on the track to the coast - amazing views, lovely! After that we drove back towards Port Camblell for 3km to visit the Loch Are gorge and beach - scene of a famous rescue after a boat was lost at sea. Lynette even had a paddle but said the water was icy. We then drove to Apollo bay - took about an hour and the road goes inland quite a way. Arrived there in time for a lunch at the market - mixes seafood and meat Paella - very Spanish. We mooched around in the town for a while before driving back towards Port Campbell. We took the detour to the Otway Lighthouse where we spotted a couple of Koalas in the trees and also drove through a forest of trees with no bark or leaves. Short walk from the lighthouse to the viewpoint where we could see it. Lynette drove us back to Port Campbell arriving just before 1700 for coffee/tea, biscuits, gin & tonics & showers before heading into town for an evening meal.Read more
