Christmas in reindeer land

After driving some 500 km yesterday and another 700 today, spending a total of 6+13 hours in our car in poor winter conditions with sleet, winds and a lot of holiday drivers we are finally at our destination - Bastunäs. We have an electric car, so it takes a couple of hours longer than with a fossil fuel car since we have to stop and charge every now and then.

Two near-accidents too, not because of our driving (of course...) but because of other drivers, not so used to winter conditions. And apparently not used to blinking left and right, signaling where you are going, so the cars behind (= us) can adjust direction and speed. The first almost-accident was just like that; we were passing the car in front of us when the driver suddenly, without any signal, threw themselves out in front of us. Due to speed, snow and ire, it was impossible to stop our car, and the other car did not pick up speed, so we were maybe 1 m away from bumping into them, and then our car had slowed down enough to avoid a crash. They never looked on the rear-view mirror and never saw how close it was...

But have we are, it is pretty as a postcard as always, -9°C, and the logs in the sauna were burning at temperatures just perfect for me (i.e., too cold for the others).Read more
