The small town of Dingle is the main town of the Dingle Peninsula. There are many sights worth a visit. On the day of arrival, there was a regatta race just going on in the harbour. Bad thing was the rain during our stay. But we should get used to, as the days to come will show.Leggi altro

  • Kylemore Abbey and Gardens

    25 agosto 2017, Irlanda ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

Kylemore abbey is still a fully working abbey. Until 2010 the abbey was used as a school. In the early 1920s, nuns from Belgium, who lost the abbey during the Ypres battle during the WWI, bought the castle and turned it into an abbey. Today it is together with the gardens one of the main tourist attractions of the area. But it was a rich businessman from Manchester, who built the castle in the 1880s. He had to sell the castle because of gambling.Leggi altro

  • Errisbeg Walk

    26 agosto 2017, Irlanda ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

When getting up this morning, the sun was finally shining all over. We had yet to do a hike in the area as we couldn't do so because of the rain. So we decided to drive a bit to the southern part. There is a small hill called Errisbeg. It looked quite easy, but we had yet to avoid leaving the track. On our way back, we got a bit lost. But from the top of Errisbeg, we had this wonderful view from above. From here you can see that the southern part of Connemara looks more like a sponge. Its actually full of small lakes. I saw them already on the topo map before. Then, turning your head 180° around, you see a beautiful peninsula looking like a hammer.Leggi altro

  • Dublin - Home

    29 agosto 2017, Irlanda ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

What a journey we made in about 3 weeks time. Ireland is really a very beautiful and interesting country. There is so much to discover. One trip is not enough. We travelled Ireland by train, car and on foot. Each is a great way to discover the country, especially on foot. You get much closer to nature, culture and people. Weatherwise, it is a different story. you need to have waterproof clothes, at least the time we were there (august). But even rain can do pretty well on a photo. It will definitely not be our last trip to Ireland.Leggi altro
