Arashiyama Monkey Park

We hiked for about 30 minutes to the top of Arashiyama Mountain to the Monkey Park. We weren't expecting it to be so steep and hot! But it was great fun. The monkeys just roam free. It's as if they have always lived here, then humans came and turned it into a tourist attraction. But it doesn't seem bad at all. The monkeys still have the whole mountain to roam free. And they had plenty of shade and water, not to mention the unlimited free fruit and nuts that tourists can feed them. We chose not to feed them as we didn't want to risk a bite or scratch!

They were very cute! We stayed for about 30 mins, then we were on our way back down the 160m descent!Read more
