• Covelly to Hartland Quay

    June 2, 2017 in England ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

We left Covelly after a nice breakfast. We climbed up the steep street and entered the forest. Much of the first four hours were along the edge of the forest or along cleared farmland with cliffs on the right side down to the ocean. It was wet and foggy. The fog would come and go but at least it was warm and not windy. It rained a bit as well but mostly a misty wet drizzle. Once we got to Hartland Point the trail turned south and the skies started to clear a bit. We stopped at a tea house and had a nice snack and tea. We were covered with grass seed from the wet trail. Past this point the cliffs got quite spectacular and the skies cleared. There was a lot of up and down hiking, but we got into the Hartland Quay hotel around 4 pm and headed straight to the pub for drinks. Our room here is nice and faces the setting sun. Dinner was good but pretty slow in coming. But we had lots of time. This hotel is over 200 years old and hallways are very narrow.Read more
