Hakan, my nephew, and Serenay, my-niece-in-law, moved from Ankara to İzmir mid-October. They have since settled into the apartment they are renting in Ataşehir, a neighborhood in the Çiğli District.

Tonight they hosted the family for dinner. Serenay is an excellent cook … a selection of mezes, soup, and lamb shanks with potatoes were all on the menu. For dessert, she delighted us with her version of supangle, a chocolate pudding that usually has a slice of cake on the bottom.

A wonderful evening was had by all. It will be our turn to host everyone next.Read more
