• Colfosco: It’s Raining, It’s Pouring

    July 14 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 70 °F

I was totally OK with the plan to stay home today so Mui could go to the clinic in town. Aside from the fact that I could do some catching up with footprints, I could read and relax on the balcony. Frankly, I did more of the latter than the former.

That there was rain in the forecast was another reason to stay at home … especially since the various weather sites couldn’t seem to agree on when and how much rain we’d be getting.

After breakfast, Mui went off to the clinic, waiting with the rest of the patients to see the doctor. No receptionist or anything … just the one doc doing everything from seeing patients to taking payments.

The long and short of it is that he agreed there was an infection. He prescribed an ointment that Mui filled at the pharmacy. Fingers crossed we see results soon.

Once he got home, we had lunch and just chilled. We had some sunshine, but cloud cover moved in frequently, which allowed me to sit on the balcony earlier than usual … hence the adverse impact on photo processing for footprints.

The worst of the rain held off until late afternoon, but it has been raining on and off since then. Light at times; moderate at other times … certainly heavy enough to not only veil the distant mountains from view, but the town below us as well. Thunder and some lightning, too. And occasional winds that were strong enough to set the tree branches a-swaying.

It was too chilly to sit outside for afternoon tea … or even for snacks in lieu of dinner. Nonetheless, I later grabbed the fleece blanket and sat outside for a while despite the rain … thanks to the protection of the wide eaves over the balcony.

We plan to do some hiking tomorrow if Mui is up for it … and the ground isn’t too soggy. If the radar is to be believed, the wet stuff will continue in waves through the night.
