NB Day 4: Welcome to the Lofoten Islands

Our first stop this evening was Stamsund,

It was also our first stop in the Lofoten Islands. However, it was just for 25 minutes. All aboard is 10 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. Thus, anyone wishing to step off the ship had to be back in 15 minutes. That was long enough for Mui to head down the gangway to get a photo of a mural on the dock. The mural begged to be used as a photo op, but the angle from the cabin didn’t work to our advantage.

If there is one small regret about our hastily-planned ‘escape the August heat’ trip, it’s that we could have disembarked here to spend some time in the Lofoten Islands before re-embarking a different Havila ship to complete the journey. It would have been a good alternative to the Baltic cruise we’ll be doing after we disembark m/s Havila Castor on the 19th. Then again, considering the rain we’ve been having, perhaps our decision to stay aboard was a smart one.Read more
