    SB Day 9: Risøyhamn

    The approach to the small village of Risøyhamn requires the ship to transit a long, narrow channel marked with buoys. The channel, which opened in 1992, makes it far easier for larger vessels, such as the Havila and Hurtigruten mail ships, to navigate the Risøy Strait.

    With the rain letting up, we joined the many other passengers who lined up at the railing on deck 9 forward to enjoy the approach. It was a bit chilly because of the wind-generated by the ship’s forward movement, but lovely nonetheless.    Read more
