It's a funny thing when the last adventure trip was pre- covid and on a motorbike. It took us ages to pack the car, sort out the new tech navigator, lose a hearing aid, forget one phone, drive home again after 16kms, then fill up with fuel, and after getting up at 4am finally leaving by 6am, only to stop for breakfast 50kms from home. We were famished, but are now truly on our way....Read more

  • Little drama on the bench

    August 11, 2025 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Nothing serious, except that no phones worked, no chargers worked and we were digitally challenged and unavailable. So we found a Panderia, croissants, coffee, a bench and shade. Switched everything off, restart and bingo, back on line. Like us, everything got OVERHEATED. On our way to meet L and K at a river park. Yay.Read more

  • A fun filled 117kms

    August 12, 2025 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

We left the picnic site and turned the wrong way. The sun was on the wrong side, we were driving south-east. Nevertheless, we meandered along the jungle-like mountain pass and found a mossy cliff face with water plunging down it. We showered and filled our waterbottles with ice cold mountain-filtered sweet delicious water. After turning around we drove back to the picnic site, and headed north-west to the coast. In the middle of the mountains we saw a fuel station , but even though the tank reading showed half, took the opportunity to fill up. Standing in the shade in front of the car, I felt a wet sensation on my ankles. "Somethings splashing me" I yelled. " It's petrol!". STOP the pump. A moment of intense activity as Brausch stopped the pump, rolled the car away from the fule lines and looked aghast at all the fuel on the forecourt under where the car had been. The clamp holding the fuel filler pipe to the fuel tank had unclamped. So grovelling on the ground with our trusty toolbox, Brausch wired it up. We had an audience of beautiful birds. The journey continues on the next footprint.Read more

  • Part two of the fun filled 117kms.

    August 12, 2025 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

From 300m altitude, we climbed, in 2nd gear, to 1553m slowly winding our way up through spectacular scenery. Going down more hairpin bends which became scary pin bends when our brakes overheated and failed. " What's that burning smell?". So we drove down the mountain in 1st gear and clutch, searching for a place to stop. Swinging left into site filled with trucks, they tried to stop us, no entry! We ignored them and came to a halt. The nice German man explained it was a film set, they were making a movie and we couldn't stay. We stayed. Gently pouring our precious mountain water over the boiling brakes and chatting to the movie man, we were soon on our way, from 1553m down to 79m where we met L, plus L & K for dinner.Read more

On the way home we stopped at the hardware shop to buy a portable air con unit, and loaded it into our already full car. Now we can cool off.
