Gran Canaria - Bandama

After breakfast and sunrise over the harbour, we went to grab our stuff from the room to head out...but I spectacularly stacked it down the last few steps of a flight of stairs and limped back rather sorry-looking! But we strapped on our walking boots and headed into Las Palmas for what turned out to be an increasingly underwhelming start to the day. The town is very, very touristy and the bus station was closed, which we'd planned to use to get to Bandama. The car rental company had no cars available so we resigned ourselves to a walk up the nearby hill. We happened by another car rental place and chanced it...and were lucky.

So, we grabbed a little Citreon C3 and headed up the Gran Canaria mountains to the caldera Bandama. The windy mountain roads and overcast skies made for a slow start but the views from the top were beautiful. Heading further up the mountain, the roads looked just as winding...!Read more
