A short stop in Bamberg of just two hours. A world UNESCO site as a relatively complete medieval layout, it is apparently one of the prettiest towns in Germany. It is also famed for Rauchbeer (smoky beer), made from malted barley dried over a beechwood flame rather than an oven.
The beer was good. The town was okay. Clearly a beautiful town, but so are so many others we've visited, and it was not a pretty as Heidelberg. The Alte Rathaus is part of a bridge, sitting on an island in the river, which is pretty cool though.
