We arrived early in Madeira. The captain had said the night would see 4-5m swells and there was certainly some roll on the ship throughout the night. Promised an overcast day, the morning was anything but. Although the clouds shrouding the mountains created rainbows across the city that lasted all day. We walked along the sea front to the yellow fort, and realised there was far more to explore here than we realised when we last visited. Meandering back through the old town's cobbled streets and artistically decorated walls, we visited the market before wandering back to the ship for lunch before an afternoon excursion.Read more
