    Tenerife Natural History Museum

    23. december 2023, Spanien ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

The transit from La Palma to Tenerife was relatively short and it felt like every time I woke in the night we could see land off the balcony. Whilst we ported early, we found ourselves in port with the Azura, who took the best spot - we were a country mile from the city centre! Last time we were here we did a massive hike through the Parque Rural de Anaga...but on wobbly legs after the volcano hike yesterday, we opted for a museum day instead.

We started in the Natural History and Archaeolgical Museum in Santa Cruz, which had a fabulous array of collections. A moon rock and meteorites for Ben, some fascinating mummies for me, and lots of other stuff beside...include a lovely small display about the famous pirate Sir Francis Drake!

Just up the road was the Mercado de Nuestra Señora de Africa, a heaving market that seemingly sold everything from fresh fish to fabric. The fish market was especially fascinating with tabletop bars dotted within the fish stalls serving wine and fish tapas.

Reading update: Ben finished his book before we left this morning. I have about 10% left in Children of Fallen Gods 😬
