An afternoon in Athens

After freshening up in the hotel, we headed out into the mid-afternoon heat and immediately felt not fresh anymore! We wandered by Hadrian's Gate, Parliament, Syntagma, Hadrian's Library, Monastiraki, and towards Psirri for food. Po Boys BBQ was a superb stop, both for the food and to get out of the heat. Just ten minutes further we popped to Olympias rooftop bar once again for some wine and stellar views of the Acropolis. Hampered only by a lack of white wine, a bloody massive wasp/hornet thing that took a liking to Ben, and me throwing a glass of wine over Kev with some wild gesturing!
The dusk walk home was pleasant but also affirmed our general approach to holidays that we do stuff in the day and retire to somewhere quiet in the evening...Saturday night in Athens is absolutely heaving. We dodged pedestrians, cars, and restaurateurs as we headed home to recover from a 2am start and 30-some-odd degree heat.Читать далее
