    Originally built as the Union Gospel Tabernacle by Thomas Ryman for the revivalist Sam Jones & was renamed after Ryman's death. It is best known as the home of the Grand Ole Opry from 1943 to 1974. It fell into disrepair & was going to be demolished, but after being renovated shows started again in 1994 & continue today. We toured the Ryman and it is a special place, with great atmosphere, especially when you think about all the greats who performed here.
