    Kloster in Trier

    An interesting drive to our 1st stop in a beautiful hotel just outside Trier. The route was mostly Autonahn, but Bobby the Beamer got all excited as we passed near by the Nurnburg Ring and wanted to demonstrate what was under the bonnet. We went via an unorthodox way that took us along some winding roads and through some long forgotten villages by way of a shortcut. Bobby loved it, not so sure about the co-pilot. We landed at a converted Kloster next to the river and were given a quaint room overlooking the river. It's raining cats and dogs here and given there is a restaurant in the Hotel,we are staying in and going to treat ourselves tonight and eat here.Read more

    We went downstairs, and the restaurant was unexpectedly full. We were fortunate to get a table and the food was fantastic.

    Vienne

    Day started good with a run along the Moselle. I returned with a fresh coffee for sleeping beauty. We set off at about 10ish in sunshine, which very quickly turned into torrential downpour. Stopped in Luxembourg for fuel...dirt cheap. Fortunately, the French are very careful drivers, so it was a pleasurable experience driving in the rain. During an insane moment, I foolishly thought it would be a great idea to stop over in Lyon...2hrs later after a frustrating and colourful (language) drive through the city during rush hour. I changed my mind, and after finally escaping the traffic, we got to Vienne for the night. We found a Hotel (de la Poste) that looks like a film set for a Horror movie but managed to barter the price down. We went out for fish and some beers in a lovely restaurant...Pilar had chips and tomato sauce. We finished with a lovely evening walk through the town. Spain tomorrow 🇪🇸 🇪🇸 🇪🇸Read more

    Still in France 🇫🇷 Port Leucate

    Awoke to the dawn chorus of the bin men this morning at 6ish. Rip van winkel was still catching a few zzzz's, so I put my dap's on and headed out to pound the pavement. Had a run along the river and over a footbridge to the other side and turned around to find a spectacular view of the town... unfortunately I forgot my camera.,.but words paint a thousand pictures. It is an old Roman town with an Ampetheatre, aqueduct, a couple of castles, and Cathedral thrown in for good luck. I woke my princess with a coffee again, and then we went for breakfast in the town before departing. We have a lovely little hotel room overlooking the harbour...defo last stop in France.Read more

    At least it's not raining 😆

    We went for a walk along the beach...in the rain. We sheltered from the weather in a little bar owned by an Argentinian, who promptly tried to chat up Pilar. We were rescued by an ex-serviceman from the French Army who spoke a little German. We then went to another bar followed by a raid on the local supermarket and evening meal of tapas on the balcony. Lovely day despite the weather. Off to sunny Spain in the morning ☀️☀️☀️Read more

    Sun's out guns out

    Up with the sun and a lovely run along the beach. The ladies were out walking their dog's along the beach, dressed in their short shorts and displaying mahogany coloured legs. Pity the average age was upwards of 70! After a bath....not had one of those in a while, we had a lovely breakfast on the windy terrace. We are heading down to Spain today... Bobby called me from the carpark after noticing a bit of sun on his hood. So it's going to be roof down, shades on and down the coast road we go....Read more

    Overnight stop in Roses

    Had an exhilarating drive around the coastal road. As it is out of season, there was very little traffic. Overtaken by a few motorbikes, it's obviously a popular ride. So many bends and curves, absolutely the highlight of the trip so far. Landed in roses for our overnight stop. In a lovely hotel next to the beach, with a Spa and breakfast thrown in. Off out into the old town tonight, as it is very tourist orientated here and then heading up the coast again in the morning. So glad we could get the roof down today. I just need to remember to apply sunscreen tomorrow!Read more

    We were turned away from a hotel earlier, which was quite funny. I think because we had no bags, they thought we just wanted a room for a bit of nookie....Good news was that we walked around the corner and found a cool little hotel with a bar that served Guinness. We negotiated the room down from 110 to 90€with breakfast and a pint of Guinness! We went out for food and found a bar that sells Alhambra beer...2 of my favourite beer's in one day!Read more

    Tossa de Mar

    Started to come back up the coast and landed in a beautiful little place. We have a room in a 4* hotel next to the beach. Went for a walk around the town earlier, and it reminds us a bit of Nerja. Weather dependent, we may stay here for a couple of nights and then head back home.Read more
