Bisschen Entspannung am Toten Meer 🔆

Am Toten Meer gab es etwas Entspannung für uns. Wer schon mal dort war, weiß es: Im Toten Meer kann man nur „schweben", nicht wirklich schwimmen. Also badeten wir, und danach gab es eine Schlammmaske. Danach hieß es wieder abwaschen im Meer, anschließend Salzpeeling und duschen. Das Hotelpersonal war super zuvorkommend und hat den Besuch perfekt abgerundet. Außerdem gab es eine Weihnachtseisenbahn und Außendeko ganz im Weihnachtsstil 🎄.Am Abreisetag besuchten wir noch „Bethany Beyond the Jordan" und Jerash. Ersteres ist die Taufstätte Jesu. Es war unglaublich spannend, alles über dieses Gebiet zu erfahren, und der Guide hat sich große Mühe gegeben und alles sehr sachlich erklärt. Da direkt im Jordan die Grenze verläuft, war auf beiden Seiten Militärpräsenz geboten. Man durfte sich nicht alleine bewegen und auf keinen Fall den Fluss auf die andere Seite passieren.Jerash ist eine mehr oder weniger gut erhaltene römische Stadt. Ausgrabungen sind derzeit noch im Gange. Trotzdem gab es auch hier schon viel zu sehen, wobei uns das Thema bereits bekannter war. Anschließend ging es nur noch ins Hotel in der Nähe des Flughafens 😴.

#At the Dead Sea, we enjoyed some relaxation. Anyone who's been there knows: in the Dead Sea, you can only "float," not really swim. So we bathed, and afterwards there was a mud mask. Then it was time to wash off again in the sea, followed by a salt scrub and shower. The hotel staff was super accommodating and made the visit perfect. There was also a Christmas train and outdoor decorations in full Christmas style 🎄.

On our departure day, we visited "Bethany Beyond the Jordan" and Jerash. The former is the baptism site of Jesus. It was incredibly fascinating to learn everything about this area, and the guide made a great effort and explained everything very objectively. Since the border runs directly through the Jordan River, military presence was required on both sides. You weren't allowed to move around alone and absolutely could not cross the river to the other side.

Jerash is a more or less well-preserved Roman city. Excavations are still ongoing. Nevertheless, there was already plenty to see here, although we were already more familiar with the topic. Afterwards, we just headed to the hotel near the airport 😴.Read more
