Nach unserer langen Zeit in Brasilien entschieden wir uns, nach Chile zu fliegen. Erster Stopp: Santiago. Wir dachten, es wäre heiß – und das war es auch –, aber auf eine ganz andere Weise als in Brasilien. Außerdem kühlte es nachts deutlich ab. Wir machten wieder eine Stadttour mit. Der Guide erzählte viel über die Geschichte Santiagos und die verschiedenen Kriege, die geführt wurden. Die Tour endete im Stadtteil Lastarria. Dort gab es jede Menge Straßenkunst, Musik, Bars und Restaurants. An einem Tag besuchten wir das präkolumbianische Museum und erfuhren noch mehr über die Geschichte des Landes. Besonders beeindruckend waren die ausgestellten Figuren und Artefakte. Auch den Berg San Cristóbal haben wir besucht. Dort führen mehrere Wege hinauf – zu Fuß oder mit der Seilbahn. Als wir an der Talstation ankamen, sahen wir jedoch den Hinweis: „Heute wegen Wartungsarbeiten geschlossen.“ Kurz waren wir enttäuscht, doch dann entdeckten wir kleine Busse, die trotzdem hinauffuhren. Also statt Seilbahn Bus – und oben wurden wir mit einem wunderschönen Ausblick belohnt. 💟Von Santiago aus machten wir außerdem einen Ausflug nach Valparaíso – ein wunderschönes, buntes Städtchen voller Straßenkunst, nur eine Stunde entfernt.

Real Life: Anna hatte in Santiago einige Arztbesuche. Seit Wochen plagten sie Schmerzen im Bein, und lange konnte niemand die Ursache finden. Beim letzten Ultraschall dann die Diagnose: Muskelfaserriss. Wird schon wieder! 🤞

Alles in allem gefällt uns Santiago richtig gut. Nur beim Einkaufen waren wir etwas überrascht: Kaffee kann man hier fast mit Gold aufwiegen, während Alkohol gefühlt verschenkt wird. 🤷

#After spending a long time in Brazil, we decided to fly to Chile. First stop: Santiago. We thought it would be hot—and it was—but a completely different kind of heat than in Brazil. Plus, it actually cooled down quite a bit at night.We joined another city tour, where the guide told us a lot about the history of Santiago and the wars that had been fought. The tour ended in the neighborhood of Lastarria, a lively area full of street art, music, bars, and restaurants.One day we visited the Pre-Columbian Museum and learned even more about the country’s history. The exhibits—especially the ancient figures and artifacts—were fascinating. We also visited San Cristóbal Hill. There are several ways to get up there, either by hiking or by cable car. When we arrived at the base station, we saw a sign that said: “Closed today for maintenance.” For a moment we were disappointed, but then we noticed small buses still going up. So, instead of the cable car, we took the bus—and were rewarded with stunning views from the top. 💟
From Santiago, we also took a trip to Valparaíso, a beautiful and colorful seaside town full of street art, just an hour away.

Real life: Anna had a few doctor visits in Santiago. She’d been having leg pain for weeks, and no one could figure out what was wrong. The last ultrasound finally revealed the cause: a torn muscle fiber. It’s healing, though! 🤞

Overall, we really like Santiago. The only surprise came when we went shopping: coffee here is almost as pricey as gold, while alcohol seems to be practically free. 🤷Read more
