Von Wüsten und Dühnen ⛱️

Nach dem Karneval und all den Menschenmassen ging es weiter nach São Luís. Von dort fuhren wir noch etwa vier Stunden mit dem Auto nach Barreirinhas – unserem Zielort für den Nationalpark Lençóis Maranhenses.Wir machten zwei Touren durch den Nationalpark: direkt von unserem Ort aus zu verschiedenen Lagunen – perfekt zum Baden und um die beeindruckenden Dünen zu bestaunen. Die Fahrt erinnerte eher an eine Ruckelpiste, also hieß es gut festhalten!Am nächsten Tag ging es weiter nach Santo Amaro. Auch dort besuchten wir die Dünen und Lagunen, doch die Strecke war zum Glück deutlich weniger holprig 😮‍💨. Am Ende konnten wir noch in einem Fluss baden, dessen Strömung uns ein Stück weit mittrug – sehr erfrischend! In den Lagunen gab es übrigens überall kleine Fische, die einem automatisch ein kostenloses „Fish Spa“ gönnten 😁.Die Rückfahrt organisierten wir mit einem Sammelbus, und unsere letzte Nacht in Brasilien verbrachten wir schließlich wieder in São Luís. Dort erkundeten wir noch die historische Altstadt und genossen zum Abschluss einen guten Wein beim Abendessen.Brasilien hat uns richtig gut gefallen! Das Land ist riesig, und um wirklich alles zu sehen, bräuchte man vermutlich noch sehr, sehr viel mehr Zeit.

#After Carnival and all those crowds, we continued our journey to São Luís. From there, it was another four-hour drive to Barreirinhas, our gateway to the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park.We went on two tours through the national park — starting right from our town to visit several lagoons, perfect for swimming and admiring the stunning sand dunes. The ride was quite a bumpy adventure, so holding on tight was definitely part of the fun!The next day, we headed to Santo Amaro for another excursion to the dunes and lagoons, though this time the road was thankfully a lot smoother 😮‍💨. At the end of the tour, we could take a dip in a river with a strong current that gently carried us downstream. In the lagoons, tiny fish offered a free “fish spa” experience everywhere we went 😁.For the return trip, we arranged a shared bus, and we spent our last night in Brazil back in São Luís. There, we explored the city’s historic old town and enjoyed a delicious dinner with a glass of good wine.We really loved Brazil! The country is huge, and to see it all, we’d need much, much more time.Læs mere
