Arashiyama, Kyoto

I like Arashiyama, it's on the outskirts of Kyoto, feels more like a small town than part of a large city. Of course, like all of Kyoto's tourist areas it was full of tourist, but still nice. On the way to the mountain where the Monkeys live I happened across a group of Maiko girls getting on a bus. I don't know if it's common to see them, but I felt lucky to see such an iconic part of Japanese culture. Their kimono were amazing! Felt a but sorry for them though, they had about 50 tourists and locals chasing them with cameras. Afterwards I climbed the mountain to see the monkeys, who were kind of ugly to be honest, and obviously catering to the tourists. I would have rather seen more Maiko!Read more
