    Rain!

    June 4, 2018 in New Zealand ⋅ 🌧 15 °C

Very heavy rain here all night - crashing on our iron roof. Clearing now and might venture out for a walk. We were woken by a helicopter flying low our our house - apparently they were going to rescue some people at Tolaga Bay stranded on their house roof top 😮Read more

The Pies are in the oven..

    June 3, 2018 in New Zealand ⋅ 🌧 12 °C

Yep the pies are in the oven for dinner - we just got home from going to the movies - The Gurnsey Book and Potato Pie Society. We enjoyed it - nice little story and good to see it - we love movies but don't get to many.
The rain that was threatened has finally arrived - which is good because we spent the afternoon on a vintage train ride to a little backwater called Muriwai. It was a last minute thing - Robyn dashed into the station and bought tickets while I went in search of some lunch snacks to take.
It was a super outing with lots of families. It was great with all the steam and black smoke and chugging along through the housing areas and out into the country.
Naturally we had a coffee at the Roast and came back to chill out - Robyn had a wee sleep.
I think we will hear rain on our roof tonight

Early morning with a wet day to come

    June 3, 2018 in New Zealand ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

I got up late and despite it raining over night, with the sea roaring too, it wasn't raining so I took the camera for a walk. Robyn was too comfortable on the internet and by the heat pump. Only a few people braved the conditions with me and one dog too. No rain while I was out but there was a dark and threatening sky.Read more

    A day in Gisborne

    June 2, 2018 in New Zealand ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

We have had a great day - getting around Gisborne. It has been a great day for dramatic cloud photos. Starting first thing this morning on the beach.
First thing in town was a visit to Raglan Roast cafe for some of their great coffee - we loved it in Raglan and it was just as great in Gisborne. Went to the Farmers Market and bought some things for dinner and breakfast and a big bag of Tamarillos. A bit of window shopping. Had lunch at the Works - which was interesting as we sat outside and a road was tar sealed while we had lunch. Went up on the hill over looking Gisborne - which was a smokey old city - lots of households with fires.
Got home and chilling out - with the heat pump on.

    Walk along the beach

    June 2, 2018 in New Zealand ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

When you are staying near a beach, one of the things you do is go for an early morning walk - which we did until a shower
came across. There were lots of surfers out - there was a swell and good waves - the water and wind cold though. We are staying in a renovated shearers cottage. The reno job in outstanding - the place is fabulous with original timbers. Going soon for coffee and a visit to the farmers market.Read more
