Wieder nur Wasser. Fast den ganzen Tag. Just in dem Moment, wenn wir uns von unseren lieben Gastgebern verabschieden, beginnt der Himmel zu weinen, obwohl er gar keinen Grund dazu hat, weil wir wir uns gegenseitig gut getan haben.

Ich bin nicht unglücklich über der Regen, muss ich doch dringend einkaufen. Möhren, Bananen, Joghurt, Kefir, Würstchen für Hilde und Schokolade für mich.

Ein kleiner Coop in Åsensbruck mit einem Parkplatz vor dem Haus. Die freundliche Verkäuferin bringt meinen Einkauf zum Bus, weil er sich ohne Stock schwer tragen lässt.

Eigentlich haben Peter und Camilla den Einkauf bezahlt, denn als wir uns letztes Jahr getroffen haben, haben sie mir ihr Restgeld vom Trip durch Schweden geschenkt. Und just seit gestern hat die Regierung ein Gesetz erlassen, dass Supermärkte und Apotheken wieder verpflichtet sind, Bargeld anzunehmen.

Wir machen einen Halt oberhalb vom Dalslands - Kanal. "...ist eine künstliche Wasserstraße in Schweden, die den See Vänern mit einigen weiter westlich gelegenen Seen der historischen Provinz Dalsland und dem westlichen Värmland verbindet. Das gesamte Kanalsystem ist etwa 254 km lang, wobei nur 12 km künstlich angelegt wurden, und überwindet einen Höhenunterschied von 66 m. Heute erfüllt es fast ausschließlich touristische Zwecke." Die Landstraße ist krumm und schief und führt nicht fern einer stillgelegten Bahnlinie auf und ab nahe dem Naturpark Sörknatten. "Das Naturreservat befindet sich zwischen den Seen Djup und Ånimmen in der Gemeinde Åmål. Die Gegend ist sehr hügelig und variiert zwischen 50 und 142 m. Die Landformen und die Geologie vom Sörknatten und dessen Gebiet ist einzigartig."

Sörknatten ist zudem als Drehort für den Film Ronja Räubertochter bekannt.

Wir bleiben über Nacht in Säffle, wo wir mit anderen Campern in der Nähe des Kanals übernachten. Es ist sehr windig und regnet auch noch bei unserem letzten Spaziergang. Ab und an passieren Jogger und Hundespaziergänger. Eben kam ein Gruppe junger Männer ziemlich dicht am Bus vorbei, die aber jetzt weit verstreut über den Platz zurück in den Ort gehen. Hin und wieder fahren Autos in die Sackgasse unterhalb des Städtchens, chillen wohl am Steg auf eine Zigarette. Dann liegt der Platz wieder still am Wasser.

Säffle, Sweden

Nothing but rain again. Almost all day long. Just as we are saying goodbye to our lovely hosts, the sky begins to weep—though it has no reason to, given how good we were for each other.

I’m not unhappy about the rain, though; I urgently need to stock up on supplies: carrots, bananas, yogurt, kefir, sausages for Hilde, and chocolate for me.

A small Coop in Åsensbruck with a parking space right out front. The friendly shop assistant brings my groceries out to the bus, as they are hard to carry without my walking stick.

Technically, Peter and Camilla paid for the groceries; when we met last year, they gave me the leftover cash from their own trip through Sweden. And, as it happens, the government passed a law just yesterday requiring supermarkets and pharmacies to accept cash again.

We make a stop above the Dalsland Canal. "...is an artificial waterway in Sweden connecting Lake Vänern with several lakes further west in the historic province of Dalsland and western Värmland. The country road is winding and uneven, leading us up and down not far from a disused railway line near Sörknatten Nature Park. "The nature reserve is located between Lake Djup and Lake Ånimmen in the municipality of Åmål. The area is very hilly, with elevations ranging from 50 to 142 m. Sörknatten is also known as a filming location for the movie *Ronia, the Robber's Daughter*.

We are staying overnight in Säffle, camping near the canal alongside other campers. It is very windy, and it is still raining during our final walk. Joggers and dog walkers pass by every now and then. A group of young men just walked quite close to our van, though they are now making their way back into town, spread out across the site. Occasionally, cars drive into the dead-end street below the town—likely to hang out by the jetty for a cigarette. Then, the site falls quiet by the water once more.Read more
