Nach dieser spektakulären Nacht, was den Himmel angeht, nicht meine fehlende Möglichkeit, wieder einzuschlafen, kommt der Morgen um fünf Uhr viel zu früh.

Stützstrümpfe an, Bild gemacht, nochmal ein bisschen träumen. Beim Morgenspaziergang stehen die Silhouetten einer kleinen Herde Rentiere am Ufer des Sees, von dem sie sich in der klaren Luft deutlich abzeichnen.

Frühstück auf einem Plateau unterhalb des Bitihorn mit zwei hübschen Französinnen, die dort übernachtet haben, und ein kleines Gespräch mir schenken, bevor ich mich in meine Ecke zurückziehe.

"Die Besteigung des Bitihorns (1607m) ist eine mittelschwere Bergwanderung mit großartiger Aussicht zu Jotunheimens südlichen Zweitausendern und großen Teilen des nördlichen Valdres."

Bis Fagernes bleibt die Landschaft noch einigermaßen wild und abwechslungsreich, wobei sich die Hegge Stabkirche oben auf dem Berg hervorhebt.

"Die Stabkirche von Hegge wurde 1216 erbaut und feierte 2016 Jahr ihr 800jähriges Jubiläum. Sie ist noch immer als Gemeindekirche in Gebrauch. Ihre geschnitzten Portale stammen aus dem Mittelalter. Der klebersteinerne Taufstein ist aus dem 12. Jahrhundert. Ganz oben in den Säulen sind Gesichtsmasken eingeschnitzt, und eine Säule (Stab) besitzt eine Runeninschrift. Auch die Altartafel hat eine besondere Geschichte."

Dann biegt die Straße Richtung Oslo ab, mit grünem Wald und blauen Seen durchaus interessant. Aber der Verkehr ist eilig und es bleibt wenig Zeit, um in Ruhe alles betrachten zu können.

Zudem steigt die Temperatur auf 24°C, was im blauen Bus nur mit Kühlung für uns zu ertragen ist.

In Eidsvoll, am Fluss Vorma, gibt es einen kostenlosen Stellplatz, auf dem wir die Nacht mit einigen Campern verbringen. Die Luft kühlt ab und wir können entspannen. Der letzte Abend in Norwegen.

After a spectacular night—spectacular in terms of the sky, that is, not my inability to fall back asleep—five o'clock in the morning arrives far too soon.

Compression stockings on, a photo taken, and a bit more time to dream. During my morning walk, the silhouettes of a small herd of reindeer stand on the lakeshore, standing out sharply against the clear air.

Breakfast on a plateau below Bitihorn with two lovely French women who spent the night there; they share a brief conversation with me before I retreat to my own corner.

"The ascent of Bitihorn (1,607 m) is a moderately difficult mountain hike offering magnificent views of Jotunheimen’s southern peaks over 2,000 meters and large parts of northern Valdres."

The landscape remains somewhat wild and varied as far as Fagernes, with the Hegge Stave Church standing out prominently atop the hill.

"Hegge Stave Church was built in 1216 and celebrated its 800th anniversary in 2016. It is still in use as a parish church. Its carved portals date back to the Middle Ages. The soapstone baptismal font is from the 12th century. Face masks are carved into the tops of the columns, and one column (stave) bears a runic inscription. The altarpiece also has a special history."

Then the road turns toward Oslo; the route—featuring green forests and blue lakes—is certainly interesting. However, the traffic is hurried, leaving little time to take it all in at a leisurely pace.

On top of that, the temperature climbs to 24°C, making it bearable inside the blue bus only with the cooling system running. In Eidsvoll, by the Vorma River, there is a free parking area where we spend the night alongside a few other campers. The air cools down, and we are able to relax. Our last evening in Norway.Read more
