Wildfires!

As we drove into Dubrovnik from the airport we saw a plane very low across the bay. Turns out it was scooping water from the sea to drop on the wildfire in the surrounding hills. Where we stopped to watch there was a derelict complex just like Abandoned Engineering.Read more

Kotor was a lovely old town in Montenegro. We visited the Cat Museum. The Italian name for Kotor is Cattano, hence the cta connection.

Bay of Kotor

The bay of Kotor was stunning. Pictures don't do it justice. The road winds all the way around the bay, right at the level of the water and the land rises up so steeply that you can't see the sky through the car windows!Read more

Ferry across the bay of Kotor

We had a short but lovely stop in Medjugorje. We visited the church then spent time in the outside gathering space where people were giving witness, unfortunately not in English. This concluded with some praise, we think the 'theme song' to the youth pilgrimage which was going on.Read more

Mostar means 'bridge keeper' as it began as the bridge linking two sides in an Ottoman trade route. The original bridge was destroyed in 1993 during the Bosnian war. It was rebuilt and became a UNESCO World Heritage site.
One side has a Croatian and Catholic feel while the other is Muslim.
There is a tradition (for the tourists) that men jump from the bridge into the river below.Read more
