Vicki and I arrived at SEATAC on separate flight about 90 minutes apart, hers from Orlando and mine from Santa Marta. We met at the luggage carousel, collected her checked bag and then took light rail and an Uber to Ben’s place in the Capital Hill District. There we had a joyful reunion with Maebel and Evan, and of course with Shelby, Travis, and Ben, too.
We kept it local the first few days, visiting downtown Seattle, including the Seattle Aquarium and the city’s icky “Gum Wall”, whose name aptly describes it. Shelby, Maebel and Vicki made a special cake to celebrate America’s independence in July 4th.Read more

Around Puget Sound With Family

Once we acclimatized a bit, we rented a 9-passenger van and we started riding the ferries around Puget Sound and visiting friends in Bremerton, where we lived 1991-94. We needed such a large van because Charlie and his steady girlfriend, Marilyn, arrived to make the family gathering complete. In addition to just being together and rekindling friendships, one of the highlights was visiting the salmon ladder at Ballard Locks. In addition, Ben arranged for a professional photographer to do a family photo shoot at Golden Gardens Park on Puget Sound.Read more
