El Badi Palace

Our next stop a short walk away was El Badi - the ruins of late 16th-century palace built by Sultan Ahmed al-Mansur of the Saadian dynasty. It had over 350 rooms, lavishly decorated with gold, Italian marble, and onyx.

During its inauguration, a court jester famously predicted that El Badi would make a magnificent ruin. We thought it was interesting, but not really a must see to be honest. On the other hand, it was quite calm as it wasn't overly crowded and undisturbed by the hustle and bustle of the city.Læs mere
