Showday in Fuglafjørður

Waking up in Eivør’s house was an absolute surprise because of the incredible views. We’d arrived in the dark the night before, so this was our first daylight moment here — and we’d heard she has one of the best views on the islands.

Everyone was waking up slowly and having breakfast. Eivør had baked some buns the day before and made homemade jam, so we enjoyed her delicious food. So precious!

We got ready and drove first to Syðrugøta — that’s where Eivør grew up, where her mom lives, and also where Theodor, the sound tech, is from. It’s also home to Sigvör’s mother-in-law and Eivør’s assistant. We stayed there together with Chloé, Gestur, Ásgeir, and their girlfriends in her house — another amazing place with room for everyone!

We dropped off our stuff, walked down to the beach, and then Eivør picked us up to go to the venue.

Around 15:00 we arrived in Fuglafjørður, counted in the merch, set up the things we’d brought in our luggage, and got ready for the show.

For dinner, we had an amazing local fish soup, and the show itself was clearly emotional for many of them — especially seeing the audience full of friends and people who had watched Eivør grow up in her career.

Afterward, we packed up the merch and went backstage, where we met all the families and partners of the band and crew. It felt like a big family gathering — so warm and full of energy. The party started slowly backstage, with some homemade carrot cake, but really took off when we went to the dive bar next door. It was a local spot, and we had such a great time dancing and hanging out with the locals. Jan Runi showed us around since this was his village and hometown.

Later, Sigvör drove me, Chloé, Gestur, Eivør, and her husband home in a car that was way too small — Eivør had to sit on Chloé’s lap! She was super tipsy and in her fiery party mood, doing her Björk impressions, and it ended up being one of the funniest car rides I’ve had in a very long time.Meer informatie
