Day 45 - A Coruña
17. juni, Spania ⋅ ⛅ 64 °F
Last Day in A Coruña
Distance: 5.2 mile
Today was a wonderfully easygoing day—exactly what we needed before starting our journey home.
We headed out around 10:00 and stopped at a little café for a delicious café con leche and a slice of spinach pie. It was so good and the perfect way to start the morning.
From there, we walked to El Corte Inglés, Spain’s famous department store. It is absolutely enormous and seems to have everything under one roof. We spent some time in the grocery section picking up local delicacies to bring home, including olive oil, noodles, candy, and a few other treats to remind us of our time in Spain.
Afterward, we wandered through the women’s clothing department. It was so hard not to buy everything I saw! The fashions are so different from what we have back home, and the quality is excellent. Unfortunately, I simply didn’t have enough room in my suitcase. The clothing is also a bit more expensive here, but you can definitely see the craftsmanship.
Since the sun had finally come out, we walked back to our hotel, changed into our swimsuits, and headed to the beach. The Atlantic Ocean was much too cold for swimming, but soaking up the sunshine felt wonderful. We spent a couple of relaxing hours lounging by the water, listening to the waves and enjoying our final afternoon in A Coruña.
Later, we returned to the hotel to shower, pack our bags, and get everything ready for our departure in the morning. Once we were finished, we dressed up and headed into the Old Town for one last Spanish dinner. I enjoyed a refreshing gin and tonic, a delicious tomato salad, and perfectly grilled octopus. It was the perfect farewell meal.
Overall, it was a relaxed, laid-back day—the perfect ending to our wonderful stay in A Coruña.
Tomorrow we’ll travel to Madrid, where we’ll spend the night before boarding our flight home. It’s hard to believe our incredible Camino adventure has come to an end, but we’ll be taking home so many wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.Les mer
