Mount Rushmore and scenic byways

We took the Peter Norbeck scenic byway to Scovel Johnson tunnel to CC Gideon tunnel down pig tail bridges, through Doane Robison tunnel, and up to Mount Rushmore. We had fun taking photos around the presidential trail, and my favorite shots of Mount Rushmore were in the distance on the scenic byway to crazy horse, where they are STILL working on the monument to this day. We continued south through Custer and hit needles highway. It was so scenic and beautiful. We continued through more rock tunnels (Iron creek tunnel) and stopped to look at the Cathedral Spires. Needles eye tunnel was so narrow, you could reach out and touch both sides. We ended our day finding a sweet campsite off the grid on a forest service road.
