I'm staying in the village of Ksyloserti, which is a mountain village on the south side of Ikaria. Today I went to the beach, located just below the village. • Seychelles Beach

    July 17, 2017 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 33 °C

Seychelles Beach is located between 2 villages, on the south side of Ikaria. In the 1960's the Ikarians created a tunnel through the mountain in order to connect the 2 villages. The rocks, which were removed from the tunnel, cascaded down the mountain, to the shore below. Made from marble, the rocks are bright white. Over the past 5 decades, the rocks have been smoothed and rounded in the rough seas, resulting in a beautiful beach. The large boulders surrounding the beach, look other-worldly, showing evidence if the lava-flows, from which they were formedRead more

Constructed of stones, thr houses blended into the natural scenery, making the houses very difficult to see. I took pictures of a few of these stone houses, which are now in disrepair.Read more
