03.01 Day 109 . . . Heading Home

We were leaving Craig and Kate today, we didn’t want to outstay our welcome despite assurances that were weren’t. The guys had things to do and we needed to get home and sort some bits before Did’d arrived at the weekend.
After stuffing our little cheeks with breakfast we said our goodbyes and hopped into Roxvanne at about 1030am.
We made a very brief stop at a shop in Aignan, before heading out west bound, generally across country along towards and through Termes-d’Armagnac, further west to Saint-Germé before picking up the A65 somewhere near to Aire-Sur-l’Adour. We then travelled about 65km carefully watching the decreasing fuel gauge until finding the first services on the A65, where we stopped for fuel and nibbles for the journey. We set off again generally north west / north towards Bordeaux remaining on the A65 until on the outskirts of Bordeaux we merged onto our beloved N10 north.
Forever northwards we drove, before off we got to travel the road to nowhere D948 towards home. On the way we encountered som really weird fog banks that came from nowhere and then we’re gone.
We decided to have a drive past the house at Chenay - just to remind ourselves and to see it in the sunshine. I also grabbed some photos of the roof tiles so I could discuss them with Craig.
From there it was straight home, where we unloaded Rox and stuck the pellet burner on . . . it was a tadge chilly back in our stone house!
We had driven for best part of four hours from Craig & Kate’s to our without not one traffic jam or piece of congestion, we couldn’t quite believe it.
We spent the evening nibbling cheese and bread, chorizo and olives - with a couple of glasses of wine and beer . . . Good to be home. That said we had had the most brilliant time away and had a fantastic New Year with Craig & Kate.
We couldn’t of had a better first New Year in France.
Time for bed - it had all been too much for Tre 😂Read more
