04.01 Day 110 . . . The Leak

Another late wake - well for Teresa anyway, I was awake at 7.30am but dozey didn’t open her eyes until 9.45am. I think the last few days of late nights has caught up with Princess 😂
Anyhow after getting up, we cracked on with all the stuff that needed doing - day’s away are lovely but there is always a price to pay. As a result Tre made numerous trips back and forth to the washing machine, we took all of the Christmas decorations down and packed them away safely, sorted a few bank related things including paying our car loan off early - which we’ve been angling to do for a while.
I decided to catch up with a few of these penguin posts an it was at this point that Tre discovered water on the floor, near to the outer wall in the lounge. We have never had a leak here before despite some heavy rain sessions. I could see it was wet near to a ceiling beam, but none of the ceiling was wet. As it was raining I guessed it was penetrating from outside. I had a quick check outside but as I mentioned - it was raining, so had no hope of seeing where it was coming in from. We decided not to bother Hannah the landlady who was on her hollibob’s in the UK and also not to bother the temporary guardians of the estate Lorna and Alan. We would wipe up the wet and see how much more came in. About 30 minutes later Tre told me she had solved the leak mystery. It would appear one of the sheets Teresa had washed in the washing machine during the morning, had a plastic section running around the lower edges. This plastic edge had a puddle of water held within it, which had meant that when Teresa hung it upstairs to dry - the water had leaked out onto the upstairs floor and found its way down the wall and ultimately to the lounge floor. That won’t be happening again and really pleased we didn’t pester Hannah, Lorna or Alan with it !!
The afternoon drifted into not very much at all, I did quite of research on the web about a whole host of things from flooring and repairing floor joists to roof tile types their fitting and spacing . . . I won’t bore you with anything else.
I had a slightly weird social media update that the joint chairman of West Ham had died. Weird in as much that I was only talking about him the other night to Craig and Kate and telling them the story of my driving him in his Rolls Royce earlier this year. He was a lovely fella that evening as was his fiancé - sad news!
We had chilli for dinner - Tre made sure she had similar pots this time, not a chilli and curry mix 🙄
The evening slipped away and we finished it off with another Netflix series . . . now starting The Killing Series 2 . . . subtitles are not advised in the late evening, as I think Tre managed about 15 minutes before the eyes were firmly closed and heavy breathing had started. That will be another re watch tomorrow!
