06.01 Day 112 . . . Government Gateway

I think France has broken Teresa!
Her internal clock has just stopped working - well the waking up part has at least. This morning I wrote yesterdays penguin, listened to a live album I’d not heard before, edited an image and put up an Instagram post, checked Twitter and Facebook thoroughly, watched a couple of YouTube tutorials and sent a few messages - all before Dozey decided to open her eyes. She didn’t wake up until 10am . . . again!!
Anyhow, following our now mid morning breakfast routine, we needed to update some details on the UK Government Gateway - nothing too difficult or so we thought. It was all to do with Teresa’s account and so she duly logged in on my laptop, as to make the morning a little more problematic - her laptop was double keying letters and so couldn’t log in with a password! So while she did that I fiddled with resetting her laptop. After about half an hour I asked why she was taking so long sorting the little task on the Gateway. So together we spent another hour half an hour trying to input details we knew were correct but the system said we’re not. Really frustrating. So we finally opted to call them - knowing what was to come! After 45 mins of waiting and listening to a recorded message we gave up and decided to try first thing Monday . . . If Teresa can wake up. Oh and the broken laptop is now ok 😎
As an aside to all of this I saw that sad news of the passing of Gianluca Vialli - a brilliant footballer and manager, a legend at Chelsea and a lovely real gentleman as well. 58yrs - no time at all.
Tre and I got ready and set out in Roxvanne, Sauze being our destination. Parked up we sought out the hairdressers that Tre wanted to visit - closed for Christmas and most of January it declared on the door.
So we had a walk around a little of the village we had not walked before, we found the Mairie’s office, which was closed as were most of the other shops and businesses. I’m not sure France opens in January.
So after grabbing a couple of items of food from the one shop that is always open we drove to the lawnmower showroom. The mechanic was there but no one to assist with information on sales of new or second hand machines - we’ll have to come back. We then decided to visit Bricodom the hardware store. We’ve avoided all of these so far as I til we have a home permanently it’s not worthwhile - but today we broke that rule, just to see what lay inside. Well, in all honestly pretty much what we expected but quite a bit more as well. I think Tre’s eyes would have glazed over again had I spent any more time in the air compressor, electrical tools and other boys gadget section.
Out of Bricodom (now known as Brit Condom) we drove to the lake and recreational park we had heard of which is just north of Sauze. The park wasn’t as big as we thought it would be, but had a decent size lake to walk around or fish, a crazy golf course, a number of BBQ’s for use when visiting and generally quite a nice place to visit - more so when the sun is out on a lovely warm day.
We assumed we could get to the house at Chenay using the backroads and so we set off. At first the backroads were decent backroads, I then decided to go off road and along farm tracks - which to be fair did bring us out right near the Chenay house, but also has now made Rox a very dirty brown colour 🙁.
We drove past the house without really stopping, just a slow drive past and then onto Mairé-Levescault the closest village - for a drive around. It’s not the biggest village to be fair and so it didn’t take us long to drift around the main roads and then start heading home.
Once home and the fire put on we both flopped onto the sofa with thoughts of what to do this evening. Those thoughts didn’t really amount to much and as both of us were not too hungry we lapsed into a night of cheese and biscuits, crisps, nibbles, pinau and beer - accompanied by rubbish re-runs of 80’s telly and a live FA Cup game to finish the evening. By the time the game had finished it was gone bedtime for us. Tre was already in bed by the end of the game - possibly as she had got up so early 🤔
What a hectic day!!
