08.01 Day 114 . . . Did’s Arrives

At 2am I was woken by the sound of torrential rain, you could almost feel the vibration of it hitting the building and especially the windows. I suddenly had a panic on about the velux windows in the bathroom and one of the bedrooms and so jumped out of bed to go check on both. The one in the bedroom window was slightly wet on the seal but the other was fine. Panic averted I returned to bed but then couldn’t sleep.
At 9am we were both awake, I felt like I hadn’t slept at all and Teresa said she hadn’t had a good nights sleep either . . . the last few nights have seemed ok 😂
Teresa had a message on her phone from our new Insurance company warning us of an impending storm in the early hours of the night to come, advising of how to minimise damage . . . not often insurance companies are ahead of the game.
We did our usual stop to grab fuel at SuperU Sauze before getting on the N10 south to collect Did’s. We seem to spend our life on this road at the moment. With one quick comfort stop on the way we arrived at Bordeaux to see Did’s flight was on time and watch it land.
It wasn’t long before Did’s was suitably embarrassed in front of the other people waiting in the arrivals hall - by his mums huge hug! Still red faced Dids walked with us to Roxvanne - his first visit to see us since September when we arrived.
Once in Rox we headed north back up the A10 and I was glad to hear one of Did’s first questions to Tre being, would we be home in time to watch Chelsea v Man City. I knew at that point I was safe for another afternoon of football on the box 😂
With only the one stop on the way home, we were back indoors, pellet burner on and beer in hand ready for kick off.
The weather for the entire journey home had been grey misty and wet, Did’s had seen hardly anything on the journey. This evening, the weather had not changed and we all three hunkered down for the evening, catching up on Did’s news.
The evening slipped by and we retired to our beds . . . Did’s experiencing his first head clatter of the the room beam while climbing into bed 😂Read more
