    Kemah, Texas

    April 5, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

Waterford Marina in Kemah, TX is our departure location to sailing off to Panama City, FL. This is where I first moved in with Bob in his 40ft Pacific Seacraft sailboat. Living on a boat is definitely a different lifestyle, if you can only imagine! It truly is about stepping out of your box, learning to let go of some luxuries to living tiny. You have to be adventurist, spontaneous, creative and willing to work when things break. Being the 'first mate' is great! Bob and I work just great together ;)Read more

  • Panama City, Florida

    April 10, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

It took us 4 days sailing through the Gulf of Mexico to arrive at our first destination, St. Andrew's Marina in Panama City, FL. What an interesting experience! We encountered dolphins swimming along the wake of other ships and aside of our boat, pitch dark "in the middle of nowhere" nights when the moon refused to come out. In the night, beautiful phosphorescent microorganisms glowed in the dark blue water. Thank God the waves only came up to about 4ft. The largest waterbed ever made is how I would describe the gulf! We also had many amazing meals aboard, our crew members never went hungry ;)
St. Andrew's Marina was our home for about 5 months. We had the best slip on our pier with great sunset views. We made some awesome "liveaboard" friends. Shell Island was the spot to take our visitors which was only an hour sailing trip away. My best part of this marina was the sound of dolphins coming out the water to get some air and watching them dive back in :)

  • St. Joseph, Florida

    September 6, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Our journey has begun! We left Panama City about 9am today to arrive at St. Joe. Anchoring for the night here then off to Carabelle tomorrow morning. This is a quiet isolated location, we had spanish mackerel fish for dinner, wine and a nice cold shower in the cockpit ;) I can get use to this! The night sould be good. God is good!Read more

  • Dog Island, Florida

    September 7, 2015 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 24 °C

After sailing/cruising for 10hours we finally made it to Dog Island which is near Carabelle. We are anchoring a night here. Honey says the weather looks iffy out on the Gulf so we will wait to see how it looks tomorrow morning. The Intracoastal to Carabelle area was really exciting though! It was a different scenery than the Gulf of Mexico, more like sailing through a narrow swamp than a huge chunk of water "the gulf." We had to go under 65+ feet high bridges which was scary BUT our sailboat mast is 55 feet tall so we were good! :) God is good!Read more

  • Carrabelle, Florida

    September 9, 2015, Gulf of Mexico ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

We spent a night at The Moorings of Carrabelle marina to fill up with fuel, water etc. Nice people and a very quiet marina, at least when we were there ;) We geared up with some yummy breakfast and left around 8am this morning. We are now heading to St. Pete! Should take us about 30hrs through the gulf to get there. Pray all goes well for Captain Bob and Firstmate Angie!Read more

  • St. Petersburg, Florida

    September 10, 2015 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 28 °C

We decided to stay a week at the Harborage Marina at Bayboro in St. Pete to visit Bob's friends from Kemah, Texas. After 30 hours through the Gulf of Mexico I was desperately ready to be off the water onto a slip and sleeping in our bed verses the "cockpit" Lol. Our journey was pretty interesting though we truly worked well with each other, taking turns on naps, turns on steering, and taking turns on trolling. We caught 3 fishes on this trip which was sooo much fun! Not to mention we had a "flying fish with actual WINGS" fly into our boat! That was so weird. Too bad we didnt fry that little guy and ate as a snack! Haha.
This marina is absolutely fancy with loads of nice boats with great amenities. We shall sight see tomorrow and record at details for our friends following this route :)

  • The Harborage Marina, St. Petersburg, FL

    September 15, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

The Harborage Marina at Bayboro is pretty huge and really nice. There's a nice pool with outdoor BBQ grills, a laundry facility with a few washers & dryers, a captain's lougne and it is walking distance to St. Petersburg downtown. There are beautiful waterfront parks, all kinds of restaurants, cafés and pubs, shopping boutiques, nightlife and a few world-class musemums in downtown area. There's a grocery store, Publix and a salon, Aveda walking distance! :) Everyone here is super nice and welcoming. St. Petersburg in general is absolutely beautiful! Bob and I rode our bicycles through central downtown, the "central arts district" which is the most eclectic of all. Everywhere you look is beautiful murals and awesome street art. The city streets are super bike friendly too. We did notice alot of homeless people in this area, which is really sad but overall I would definitely recommend this place to anyone traveling by here :)Read more

  • Cayo Costa Island, Florida

    September 20, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

It took us about 12hrs from St. Petersburg to get to Cayo Costa Island to anchor for a night. On our way through the Gulf we caught 3 spanish mackerels which made an amazing dinner. The island water was kinda tented orange, different but we still manged to find some good sea shells for the little ones back at home. The weather was perfect that night. In the morning, the boat traffic picked up for sure causing alot of wake but we still pattleboarded before heading out to our next stop : Fort MeyersRead more

  • Moss Marina - Fort Meyers Beach, Florida

    September 23, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

From Cayo Costa Island it took us 4hrs to get to Fort Myers to visit one of Bob's previous colleagues from BP. We stayed 3 days at the Moss Marina-Fort Myers Beach. There are loads of little shops and restaurants around here walking distance. We ate at Nervous Nellie's which is right along the marina under the bridge - food was great! We were able to take Bob's friend Ed and his wife Lisa sailing along the Gulf, it was an awesome day!Read more

  • Marco Island, Florida

    September 26, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

We anorched on Factory Bay along Marco Island for 3 days. Cruising in here was a little nerve racking with the depth varying between 6ft to 9ft! After seeing the other 5 boats anchored in the same area we felt alittle better. This island has a strip of resorts, hotels and loads of beautiful homes with motorboats along the water but yet, a complete "ghost town." It appears to be a slow time after the season is over. We were able to dock the dingy at Rose Marina for 5$. For groceries we walked a few blocks to Publix which wasn't bad. There's a sidewalk along the entire way so I felt safe lol. Overall this was a peaceful place to anchor, thanks Active Captain!Read more

  • City Marina, Marathon

    September 27, 2015 in the United States ⋅ 🌧 28 °C

We traveled about 3 weeks through the Gulf of Mexico with a few destination stops to get to Marathon, Florida. We finally made it to the Keys!! Felt really good to see our buddy Charlie and now be neighbors like back in Kemah. Boaters are just amazing people. Marathon is chill, everyone is on island time. Everyone motors around in their dingy and travel with bicycles. Its another different lifestyle here, before we had a vehicle but now we just have our two feet and our bicycles ;) We are not connected to electricity so we don't have ac, we are just floating attached to our mooring ball. Its pretty hot but you learn to deal with the heat.
This place has more iguanas than cows in Texas! I like it here but stoked about our next location! :)
